On June 12, 2026, all DeMuKo network partners met for the first joint project meeting at the DIPF – Leibniz Institute for Educational Research and Educational Information in Frankfurt.

DeMuKo (“Self-determined and informed: Understanding and preventing disinformation in a multilingual context”) is a project funded by the BMFTR, which runs until April 2029.

It examines how people newly arrived in Germany can be supported in navigating a digital information environment independently – and how disinformation can be prevented. Language barriers and a lack of familiarity with institutional processes further complicate the critical evaluation of information, exacerbated by the often inadequate level of digital literacy in society as a whole.

At the first meeting, the four partner organizations – DIPF, University of Hildesheim , VHS Hildesheim and Grenzenlos Digital – got to know each other and planned the next steps: empirical surveys, ethical guidelines and the preparation of project communication.
